  • The Reserve Bank of India has proposed modifying existing standards to rationalise and simplify the payment settlement procedure for imports and exports via e-commerce.
  • 'Indus Merchant Solutions,' an IndusInd Bank mobile app for merchants, won the Digital CX Awards 2022 for 'Outstanding Digital CX – SME Payments.' Digital Banker, a worldwide known financial news service provider, organises the Digital CX Awards.
  • The Reserve Bank of India declared that existing banks could establish digital banking units to provide products and services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in self-service and assisted modes.

Defence

  • India successfully flight-tested the Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) booster missile system on April 8, 2022. The experiments were carried out at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha.

  • Jyotirao Phule was born on April 11, 1827. He was an anti-caste reformer and social activist who, along with his wife, Savitribai Phule, worked to uplift neglected children and women and promoted women's education.

  • Amar Mitra, a veteran Bengali author, won this year's O.Henry prize for a short tale he penned 45 years ago. He received the award for his short tale titled 'Gaonburo,' a Bengali short fiction that was previously translated into English (The Old Man Of Kusumpur).
