• Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, presented the Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP), National Safety Awards (NSA) for the performance year 2018 and National Safety Awards (Mines) for the contest years 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 today.
• The Indian Air Force Academy's Commandant has been designated Air Marshal B Chandra Sekhar, a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM).
• In Bodh Gaya, India's largest reclining Buddha statue is being constructed. The statue will be 100 feet long and 30 feet tall will be built by Buddha International Welfare Mission.
• The development of a World Health Organization Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (WHO GCTM) in Jamnagar has been approved by the Union Cabinet, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairs.

International

• Rafiq Tarar, a veteran politician, former Supreme Court judge, and President of Pakistan, died at 92. Muhammad Rafiq Tarar was born in Peer Kot, Pakistan, on November 2, 1929. From 1991 to 1994, he was a Supreme Court justice.
• By signing a Host Country Agreement between the Government of India and the World Health Organization, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the establishment of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (WHO GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat (WHO).
• Poland's surprising offer to move its Russian-made MiG-29 fighter jets to a US base in Germany and put them at the US' disposal as a way to reinforce Ukraine's air force was rejected by the US.
• The US House of Representatives approved $13.6 billion for Ukraine as a considerable spending measure.
• According to the head of the United Nations Children's Fund, more than one million children have fled to neighbouring countries in the less than two weeks since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine (UNICEF).
• A battle with China, which has threatened to invade Taiwan, would be disastrous for all parties involved, the island's Defense Minister stated on March 10. China has primarily backed Russia in its invasion of Ukraine. This confrontation resembles Beijing's attitude toward Taiwan, the self-governing island democracy.
• On March 9, 2022, a conservative former prosecutor won South Korea's presidential election after his liberal ruling party opponent accepted loss following a tough campaign in the politically divided country.

State

• The development of a World Health Organization Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (WHO GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat, has been approved by the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
• M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has inaugurated India's largest floating solar power plant, which cost Rs 150.4 crores to build.
• On March 8, 2022, India's first 100 per cent women-owned industrial park opened in Hyderabad, Telangana, to commemorate International Women's Day 2022. Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao launched this park.
• According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-5, Odisha ranked first in the nation for full immunisation coverage, with 90.5 per cent coverage.

Economy

• ToneTag has announced the introduction of its "VoiceSe UPI payments service" for feature phone customers in collaboration with NSDL Payments Bank and NPCI.
• The Reserve Bank of India has extended the interest equalisation plan for MSME exporters' pre and after shipment rupee loans until March 2024.
