National

• "Star Women Care Insurance Policy" was launched by Star Health and Allied Insurance Firm Limited, a health insurance company. It's a woman-centric comprehensive health plan tailored to meet women's healthcare needs at every stage of their lives. The policy can be purchased with premiums paid in quarterly or half-yearly instalments. It can also be purchased for one, two, or three years.
• The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sanctioned the establishment of the National Land Monetization Business (NLMC) as a wholly-owned Government of India corporation with an initial authorised share capital of 5000 crores and a paid-up share capital of 150 crores.
• On March 10 and 11, 2022, the Lok Sabha Secretariat and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will host the third edition of the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) at the Central Hall of Parliament in New Delhi.
• Union Minister for Power R.K. Singh launched the Virtual Smart Grid Knowledge Center (SGKC) and Innovation Park as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Program. Minister of State for Power Krishan Pal Gurjar was also present.
• Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, presented the Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP), National Safety Awards (NSA) for the performance year 2018 and National Safety Awards (Mines) for the contest years 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 today.

International

• The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved $1.4 billion in emergency assistance for Ukraine to help cover costs and stabilise the country's balance of payments. After the Russian invasion began on February 24, Ukraine sought financial assistance from allies and international organisations to help support its economy.
• Yoon Suk-yeol has been named the South Korean presidential election winner in 2022 and will serve as the country's new President. He is expected to take office as President on May 10, 2022, for a five-year tenure. President Moon Jae-successor in's will be Yoon Suk-yeol.
• On 09-03-2021, China recorded 397 new instances of local transmission across the country, with 98 of them in Jilin province, including Changchun.
• In response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the US will seek to rescind Russia's "most favoured nation" trading status in concert with the European Union and the Group of Seven.
• The USA intends to declare Colombia a significant non-NATO ally, granting the Latin American country-specific defence, trade, and security benefits.

State

• Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced a 'Sushma Swaraj Award' for women who have made significant achievements in various disciplines in the international and national arenas while presenting the state budget. The Sushma Swaraj Award will come with a monetary prize of Rs 5 lakh and a recognition.
• Karnataka's government has started the 'Women@Work' programme, aiming to deliver five lakh employment to women with requisite marketable skills by 2026.
• For the second year in a row, Andhra Pradesh has remained at the top of the SKOCH State of Governance rankings.
• On 11-03-2022, the 45th International Book Fair in Salt Lake City kicks off the Kolkata Literature Festival. A session at the Lit fest will also mark India's 75th anniversary of independence.

Economy

• CRISIL, a domestic rating agency, kept its real GDP growth prediction for 2023 at 7.8%, down from the 8.5 per cent expected in the Economic Survey.

• Ashwani Bhatia, managing director (MD) of the State Bank of India (SBI), has been appointed as a whole-time member (WTM) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India by the cabinet (SEBI).

Sports

• The International Shooting Sport Federation's ISSF World Cup 2022 in Cairo has seen India in the medal standings. The Indian team achieved first place in the medals tally with seven medals, including four gold, two silver, and one bronze. Norway came in second in the medal count (three gold, one silver, and two bronze). With three gold medals out of twenty, France finished third.
• S Sreesanth, an India bowler, has announced his retirement from domestic cricket. Sreesanth represented India in 27 Tests and 53 One-Day Internationals, capturing 87 and 75 wickets. In addition, he has seven wickets in ten T20 Internationals.

Important Days

• The International Day of Women Judges is celebrated on March 10th. The United Nations reaffirms its commitment to create and implement appropriate and effective strategies and plans for the promotion of women in the legal system and institutions at the managerial and leadership levels on this day.
• The CISF was established on March 10, 1969, and three battalions were formed under the CISF Act 1968, which was passed by the Indian Parliament. Every year since then, the day has been commemorated as CISF Raising Day.

Books

• Ratnakar Shetty's autobiography, "On Board: My Years in BCCI," is an autobiographical account of his experiences as a BCCI administrator. Sharad Pawar, the MCA, BCCI, and International Cricket Council president published the book. Shetty, a chemistry professor by training, became the BCCI's first Chief Administrative Officer after working in several positions with the Mumbai Cricket Association.
