  • The Indian government has submitted the Indian Antarctic Bill-2022, around 40 years after the country joined the Antarctic Treaty for the first time. This bill was introduced to monitor and regulate operations in its Antarctic research outposts.

International

  • Serbian President Aleksandar Vui has been re-elected. Vucic was predicted to win by pollster groups CeSID and Ipsos.
  • The Forbes billionaires 2022 list has been released, compiling a list of the world's wealthiest people, who this time were impacted by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, a coronavirus pandemic, and sluggish markets.
  • The World Bank's recent economic update reduced growth expectations for the Pacific and East Asia. Forecasts have been reduced from 5.4% in October 2021 to 5% now.
  • Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States will begin coordinating on strengthening defence capacity and hypersonic missile attacks, recognising that their adversaries, China and Russia, are fast improving in cutting-edge defence technology.

Economy & Business

  • The RBI published recommendations for implementing the Positive Pay System for the country's banks. This method was put in place on January 1, 2021, to protect banks from cheque fraud.
  • Jio-bp and TVS Motor Company announced an agreement to investigate the development of a comprehensive public EV charging infrastructure in India.
  • Murli M Natarajan's tenure as managing director and chief executive officer (MD & CEO) of DCB Bank has been extended by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
  • Union Bank of India has created UnionNXT, a super-app, and SAMBHAV, a digital transformation project, with an investment of roughly Rs 1,000 crore for the fiscal year 2022-23. (FY23).
  • NTPC has taken the initiative of blending green hydrogen in the GGL (Gujarat Gas Limited) Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network at NTPC Kawas as part of its ongoing commitment to the environment. A formal agreement between the two companies was signed in the presence of Mohit Bhargava, CEO, NTPC REL & ED RE, NTPC, and Sanjeev Kumar, MD-GGL & GSPL.
