  • According to research published by the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water (CEEW), the intensity and frequency of forest fires have increased over the last two decades, as has the number of months in which forest fires occur.
  • The National Medical Commission (NMC) has produced draught rules for doctors to register to practice medicine. The instructions offered principles for constructing a dynamic national medical register in which each NEET student will be assigned a unique ID.
  • The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has issued revisions to the regulations governing the voluntary liquidation process. The timelines for the distribution of profits from realisation have been shortened to guarantee a faster departure for enterprises. These new regulations will take effect on April 5, 2022.

  • In Mumbai, the first instance of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) of the XE variant was recorded. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) published the results of its 11th genome sequencing, which found one sample positive for the XE variant and another positive for the Kappa variant.

  • On April 7, 2022, China launched a new Earth monitoring satellite. This satellite will join the country's land-sea radar satellite constellation. It will take photographs to aid China in protecting its maritime interests.

    • The Reserve Bank of India, led by Governor Shaktikanta Das, has delivered the April 2022 monetary policy update.
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently issued recommendations for the country's banks to establish digital banking units (DBUs). In the Union Budget 2022-23, an announcement was made regarding the establishment of 75 DBUs in 75 districts.
    • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has appointed two expert groups to investigate the roles, qualifications, and functions of asset management business sponsors and trustees (AMCs).


  • The Reserve Bank of India has fined IDBI Bank and Axis Bank Rs 93 lakh each for several violations related to KYC norms.

Science & Technology

    • On April 8, 2022, SpaceX deployed three wealthy people in business and their astronaut escorts to the International Space Station. They will spend more than a week on the space station.
    • Infosys and Rolls-Royce, a leading industrial technology business, have opened a combined "aerospace engineering and digital innovation centre" in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
    • A galaxy known as HD1 may be the most distant object yet discovered by scientists. The brilliance of this galaxy could be attributed to a huge black hole at its centre or the formation of large primordial stars.
    • Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1) is an Axiom Space crew mission to the International Space Station (ISS).


  • The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has formed an animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC) promotion task force. Within 90 days, the task force, which the I&B Secretary will direct, will produce its first action plan. There is representation from industry, academia, and state governments.



  • Riya Jadon, 13, won the DGC Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship after a close battle with her older sister Lavanya Jadon. Riya, who shot 78, 80, and 74, also took home the junior girls championship. This year's tournament, which returned to the Delhi Golf Club after a two-year absence, drew over a hundred female golfers.
