Para-swimmer Satendra Singh Lohia crosses America's Catalina Channel

Satendra Singh Lohia, Para-swimmer from Madhya Pradesh, has become the first Asian swimmer to cross the Catalina Channel of America.

Gwalior born Satendra led the Indian Para Relay team along with five team mates and crossed the Catalina Channel in 11 hours 34 minutes. At that time, the water temperature was around 13 degrees Celsius.

Satendra holds the Asian record of crossing both the English and Catalina channels. Satyendra has also honoured with the Vikram Award, the highest sports award in Madhya Pradesh.

About Catalina Channel

The ‘Catalina Channel’ is a little more than 20 miles (32.2 km) at its shortest distance and can be crossed from Catalina to the mainland (CM) or from the US mainland to Catalina (MC).
