PASCHIM LEHAR (XPL-2022)

About Paschim Lehar:

The exercise lasted 20 days and was designed to safeguard Western Naval Command's operating plans and improve inter-service collaboration among the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force (IAF), Indian Army, and Coast Guard.

• The drill was conducted under the supervision of FOC-in-C, Western Naval Command.
• The intra-theatre work involves the mobilization and participation of more than 40 ships and Indian Navy submarines.

Key Points:

• In addition, the IAF deployed:

• SU 30 MKI and Jaguar aircraft, 
• Flight Refuelling Aircraft and AWACs,
• the Indian Navy maritime reconnaissance aircraft P8i, 
• Dorniers, 
• IL 38 SD, 
• Unmanned aerial systems; and 
• striking MiG 29K aircraft. 

• Various Indian Army components, including Air Defense batteries, were also constructed for service.
• After a long gap, several OPVs, FPVs, and the Air Cushion Vessels of the Coast Guard also participated in the Paschim Lehar exercise.
• A variety of weapon firings in the realistic scenario, with the assurance of operational equipment and functions under different settings, were undertaken during the exercise.
