Origin: Chemayungdung glacier of the Kailash range near the Mansarovar lake. Mariam La separates the source of the Brahmaputra from the Manasarovar Lake.
River Course: Flows eastwards parallel to the Himalayas; At Namcha Barwa, it takes a “U” turn; enters India in Arunachal Pradesh through the deep Dihang or Siang gorge; Forms the Brahmaputra in Assam; Enters into Bangladesh near Dhubri and flows southward; Joined by the Teesta on its right bank, called as Jamuna; Merges with the river Padma, and falls in the Bay of Bengal.
