PM Modi visited ‘SCO Summit 2019’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bishkek (capital of Kyrgyzstan) to attend the ‘Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit 2019’.

During his two-day visit from June 13-14, he met Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Highlights of visit

• PM Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin and the two leaders reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations to further strengthen the strategic relationship.
• Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has thanked PM Modi for voting in favour of a decision introduced by the Jewish state that objected to granting consultative status to a Palestinian group at the UN's Economic and Social Council.
• PM Modi has reiterated India's stand that Pakistan should take concrete action against terror before talks can resume.
• PM Modi thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for Kalashnikov factory in Amethi.
• PM Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping and discussed ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (or Shanghai Pact) is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance. It's headquarter is in Beijing (China).

It was formed on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai, China by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan joined SCO as full members on 9 June 2017.
