PRAGYATA Guidelines on Digital Education released virtually

The Minister of Human Resource Development, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' released the PRAGYATA Guidelines on Digital Education virtually on 14 July 2020 in New Delhi that includes eight steps of online learning.

Key Points:

  • The PRAGYATA guidelines have been developed from the point of view of learners and emphasise on digital education for the students taking classes from home on account of the lockdown.
  • The guidelines offer a roadmap for improving the quality of education for online education.
  • Different stakeholders like teachers, heads of school, parents, educators and students will benefit from the guidelines.
  • The guidelines also highlight the use of an alternative academic calendar of NCERT, for both learners who have access and who don't have access to digital devices.
  • Under the PRAGYATA guidelines, eight steps of online learning have been included, which are 1. Plan-2.Review-3.Arrange-4.Guide-5.Yak(talk)-6.Assign-7.Track, and 8.Appreciate.
  • The steps provide step by step planning and implementation of online education along with examples.
  • The guidelines also provide recommendations on the need for assessment, Collaboration and convergence with different initiatives, Physical, mental health and wellbeing during digital education, concerns regarding the planning of digital education like duration, inclusiveness, screen time etc.
