Pre-NIT meeting on Mine development by CIL

The Government-owned Coal India Limited(CIL) will hold a meeting with stakeholders via video conference on 18 April 2020 to discuss model bid documents for the development and operation of underground mines.

Key Points:

  • To increase its dry-fuel output, Coal India Ltd has decided to take coal through mine operators.
  • The Pre-Notice Inviting Tender Meet(Pre NIT) will be held on the model bid documents consisting of Model Contract Agreement (MCA) and Request for Bid (RFB) for Development and Operation of Underground mines of CIL on Mine Developer-cum-Operator (MDO) mode.
  • The mine operators area of work will consist of detailed designing, financing, mine construction, procurement of mining, other equipment and development of the project.
  • For extraction and delivery of the coal, the maintenance and operation of the mine under the project will be part of the work.
  • Eighty percent of domestic coal production of India is obtained from CIL.
  • The highest coal output of 84.36 million tonnes has been achieved in March 2020, with a 6.5 percent growth in comparison to 79.19 MT produced in March 2019.
