PRODUCTION LINKED INCENTIVE (PLI) SCHEME FOR TEXTILES

Context:

On 28 December 2021, the government of India has approved the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles, with a financial assistance of Rs. 10683 crore over a five-year period. It has been done to promote the production of MMF Fabric, MMF Apparel and Products of Technical Textiles in the country.  

Key Highlights:

• In this regard, the Operational Guidelines have been finalized and uploaded to http://texmin.nic.in/services/operational-guidelines-production-linked-incentive-pli-scheme-textiles-promoting-mmf-and
• The Ministry of Textiles will accept online applications under the PLI Scheme for Textiles w.e.f. 01st January, 2022, via PLI portal https://pli.texmin.gov.in/mainapp/Default. 
• The application window will remain open from 01/01/2022 to 31/01/2022.
• In the event that an insufficient number of eligible applications, the application window for selecting new applicants will reopen.
• On their application, companies will have to inform the Ministry of Textiles about their annual investment plan, expected employment generation, expected sales, profits during the management of the program, according to the guidelines.
• Benefits worth Rs 10,683 crore will be given over five years for the production of man-made fabrics, clothing - jerseys, coats, pants, polyester suits and shirts, among others.
