Public Systems Lab

Context: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has recently joined hands with the UN World Food Programme to launch the Public Systems Lab.

About Public Systems Lab

The Public Systems Lab will use operations research and artificial intelligence knowledge to solve critical problems and bring research and development for civic system solutions that affect millions. It will work in food, health, transportation and good governance domains. However, the current focus is on optimising food supply chains and public transport systems. 

Significance of Public Systems Lab: It can play a critical and significant role in multiple ways:

  • Public food procurement and distribution are crucial programmes to which this innovation can contribute immensely. 
  • It is a perfect example of innovation that will contribute to our nation's development by eliminating corruption and bringing efficiency to the Public Distribution System. 
  • It can contribute significantly to improving public food procurement and distribution efficiency.
