**Reasoning Concept Card 11:**

Dear Aspirants,

In the previous article, we have started discussions around **Analytical Reasoning**. Let’s continue that further and discuss another part of Visual Reasoning.

**Dices **

It is among one of the toughest Questions that is asked in Analytical Reasoning Section as the candidate has to think in different view angles or projections of the dice. Dice is a cube having six faces and each face has a number. Only one number (between 1-6) on each face. Numbering could be in the form of dots or numbers.

**Example**:

Q. Observe the dots on a dice and suggest how many dots are there on the face opposite to the face having four dots?

Options:

a. 2 b. 3 c. 4 d. 5

The correct Answer is 2

Explanation: Both the given Images contain (5), hence changing the position of (1) we can conclude that 4 is placed opposite to 2.

**How to Solve DICE:**

Every cube or Dice consist of Six Faces. Four Faces adjacent to one common face, two faces are completely opposite.

The Faces are as follows: ABCD, AGCE, GHFE, BHFD (Four Adjacent faces), AGBH, CDEF (two opposite faces).

Here are few common rules that will help you in starting your approach towards the conclusion.

1. RULE I- Opposite faces can not be adjacent

Example: Which number will be there on the face opposite to 4?

In the Question given above, (4) is common in both the images and all the adjacent faces are revealed. So the correct answer to this question is 1.

2. RULE II- If two faces are common in two images and the position of one of the two common faces is fixed the third face of the two images will be opposite to each other.

Observing this figure and applying Rule II we can conclude that 4 is opposite to 2.

3. RULE III- If in two different position of dice, the position of a common face remains same then each of the opposite faces of the remaining faces will be in the same position.

In this figure the position of 3 is constant and the position of 5 & 6 is same in two figure and 4 & 2 is same in two figures. hence applying rule 3, we can directly say that 4 is opposite to 2 and 5 is opposite to 6.

4. Rule IV- If the given images contain only one common number, the position of the common number is changed and the other two number in both the images are different. Then the number opposite to the common number will not appear in the Images.

Here we can simply say that 6 is opposite to 1 applying rule 4.

Applying these rules you can solve Question on Dices easily as one of the above patterns will surely be there.
