Sanskrit School Funded by India inaugurated in Nepal

As a part of Nepal-Bharat Maitri: Development Partnership (a High Impact Community Development Project of Indian Government in Nepal), the Indian Government has inaugurated Sanskrit Vidhyalaya in the Ilam district of Nepal.

Key Points:

  • The name of the Vidhyalaya is ‘Shree Saptmai Gurukul Sanskrit Vidhyalaya’.
  • The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has attended the inauguration event on behalf of the Government of India along with the School Management Committee and Barbote Village Development Committee.
  • Shree Saptmai Gurukul Sanskrit Vidhyalaya was set up as a primary school in 2009 which was then upgraded to the secondary level in 2014.
  • Both Vedic and modern education is imparted by the school to the students in Sanskrit.
  • For students who come from the nearby districts of Ilam, the school has also provided residential facilities.
  • The school building is four-storeyed and comprises ten classrooms, four study rooms, the office of the warden, one common hall, three storerooms, one living room, nine dormitories and separate sanitation facilities for girls and boys.
  • The District Coordination Committee of Ilam is implementing the project and has been built at the cost of Rs.1.94 crore.
