SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2017, Expected Cutoff: 21 August

Today, 21 August, is Day 13 of the SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination. The SSC CGL is being conducted online for the second time. Similar to our previous articles, we will be giving an in-depth analysis for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam held on 21 August 2017.

Here is the Detailed SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis & Paper Review, highlighting the level of difficulty of each section, the supposed number of good attempts and the expected cutoff for 21 August SSC CGL Tier-I.

 

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2017: 21 August

The Online Recruitment Paper consisted of the Objective type Questions. The Tier 1 Examination consisted of 100 Questions divided into 4 sections i.e Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness carrying 200 marks in total.

All sections consisted of 25 Questions each. There was a 0.5 negative marking for every wrong attempt. The total time to solve the entire paper was 60 minutes.

Now, talking about the biggest question – “Was SSC CGL Tier 1 difficult?”

In a nutshell – the level of difficulty of SSC CGL Tier 1 Examination was Moderate. Now, since this is SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis, let us dig deeper into Section-Wise Exam Review.

 

Section-Wise SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2017

As explained above, there were 4 sections in SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination (Tier-I). The overall difficulty level was Moderate, with the majority of questions asked were a bit of a task to solve. But, there were a few easy ones too. Let us elaborate further by analysing each section of SSC CGL Tier-I 2017.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2017: General Awareness

General Awareness was yet again of Moderate Difficulty Level. Attempting 16-18 questions will be considered as a good attempt. Special focus was given to static portion but some National current affairs were also there in the paper. The topic wise distribution is as follows:

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2017: General Intelligence/ Reasoning Aptitude

Candidates who appeared for the exam describe the difficulty level of General Intelligence/ Reasoning Section to be in the range of easy to moderate level.  Maximum questions were asked from the following sections.

Few Questions were from High-Level Reasoning as well as Statement Conclusion, Syllogism etc. Candidates having a good aptitude knowledge and practice can attempt 20-22 questions easily.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2017: Quantitative Aptitude

The difficulty level of Quantitative Aptitude section was Moderate. Questions were asked mostly from the following topics :

The questions based on Arithmetic were easy to solve but the level of Geometry and Trigonometry based questions ranged from Moderate to ChallengingCandidates having a good arithmetic knowledge and practice can attempt 17-19 questions easily.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2017: English Language

The difficulty level of this section was Moderate, just like Quant Section. Attempting 15-17 questions will be considered as a good attempt in SSC CGL Tier 1 Examination. A number of Vocabulary based questions were asked. Grammar also took a major portion of the paper.  The topic wise distribution is as follows:
