SWACHHATA FIRST CHALLENGE

Purpose of Swachhata Start-Up Challenge:

• The objective of the Swachhata Start-Up Challenge is to take advantage of the first initiative by providing business opportunities for new innovators to create business solutions that are socially relevant and marketable.

About Swachhata Start-Up Challenge:

• It aims to inspire new start-ups to come forward and advance significant changes in the field of sanitation and waste management.
• The challenge aims to promote a conducive environment for business development under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 (SBM-U 2.0).

Who can participate in the challenge?

• The challenge is open to registered start-ups in India and French actors working with Indian start-ups (as a joint venture).
• It invites solutions to all four areas with themes, namely:

• Social Inclusion; 
• Zero dumps (solid waste management);
• Plastic Waste Management;
• Transparency through digital enablement.

Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0:

• It was launched on 1 October 2021 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
• It aims to achieve the vision of ‘Garbage Free Cities’ vision over the next five years by renovating landfills, building and disposing of waste, and managing plastic waste.
