SWARNIM VIJAY VARSH MASHAAL ARRIVED IN DUHANG (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)

Context:

On September 12, 2021, Swarnim Vijay Varsh Mashaal or victory flame arrived in Dahung in Arunachal Pradesh after touring the country.

Key Highlights:

  • The flame of victory was taken throughout the country to the 50 years of victory over Pakistan during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
  • It was received at Sessa, Arunachal Pradesh with full military honours.
  • Accompanied by the flames of victory in Dahung, the cavalcade was captured by the locals with enthusiasm and a deep sense of gratitude to the warriors who fought and lost their battles during the 1971 War.
  • In the coming days, it will visit Rupa, BomdiLa and Tawang and will remain with the Ball of Fire Division until September 23, 2021, to take part in many events planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the war with Pakistan and the liberation of Bangladesh.

About Swarnim Vijay Mashaal:

  • ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ or ‘victory flame’ symbolizes India’s victory over Pakistan in 1971 Swarnim Vijay Varsh.
  • This flame was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 16, 2020, at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. At the National War Memorial, the four flames of victory were lit up in eternal flames and propelled by all the cities and villages of India.
  •  It also passed through the villages of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) and Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) who won the 1971 war prizes.

1971 India-Pakistani War:

  • It was a war between India and Pakistan, which took place during the Bangladesh Liberation War in East Pakistan.
  •  The war started from December 3, 1971, to December 16, 1971, which led to the fall of Dacca (Dhaka).
  • It lasts only 13 days and is the shortest war in history.
