Tata Power JV starts operation of Shuakhevi HPP in Georgia

The Joint Venture between Tata Power, International Financial Corporation (IFC) and Norway's Clean Energy Invest (CEI) has announced the commencement of commercial operation of the 178 Megawatt Shuakhevi Hydro Power Project situated in southwest Georgia.

  • The Joint Venture between International Financial Corporation (IFC), Tata Power and Norway's Clean Energy Invest (CEI) is called Adjaristsqali Georgia LLC.
  • The total outlay of the project is approximately $500 million.
  • The Joint Venture will soon start the 9 Megawatt Skhalta Hydro Power project, which is also a part of the overall Shuakhevi Project.
  • The Shuakhevi Project will generate around 450 Gigawatt hour of clean energy and will help in decreasing the emission of greenhouse gases by over 200,000 tonnes a year.
