Textiles Committee comes up with fully indigenous Design and Make in India PPE Testing Equipment

The Textiles Committee, Mumbai will do the testing and certification of the Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) body coveralls required for healthcare workers and other COVID-19 warriors.

Key Points:

• The Ministry of Textiles announced the inclusion of the Textiles Committee as the ninth approved laboratory for the testing and certification of the coveralls had been announced on 20 May 2020.
• The machines have been conceptualized, designed and developed completely in-house. The Textiles Committee has also produced synthetic Blood Penetration Testing equipment, required for determining the resistance of Protective Clothing materials to blood penetration and body fluid penetration.
• The machine was developed in 45 days and has been tested and approved by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) under three test standards.

Note:

• The Textiles Committee is a statutory body set up in 1963 by an Act of Parliament and functions under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
• The objective of the committee is ensuring textile quality and textile machinery both for internal consumption and export purpose.
