The Cabinet Committee has approved the construction of Aligarh-Harduaganj flyover

The Cabinet Committee has approved the construction of Aligarh-Harduaganj flyover

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its consent for the construction of Aligarh-Harduaganj flyover by Ministry of Railways.

Key Points:

  • The full span of the railway flyover will be 22 kilometres and, the project is expected to be finished by 2024-25 with the cost of construction amounting more than Rs. 1285 crore.
  • The Howrah-New Delhi main route is the busiest section of Indian Railways which has to be crossed by the trains that are coming from Howrah and going to Bareilly or Harduaganj and hence get delayed in the route.
  • The flyover is necessary since the location has become a bottleneck for traffic and is affecting the train schedules severely resulting in delays and detentions and also reducing the wagon turn round.
  • The construction of Flyover at Aligarh going over the existing Delhi-Howrah main line is an operational necessity and will fundamentally remove the bottleneck to traffic movement.
  • The construction of flyover will reduce the detention and delay between the Aligarh-Harduaganj route significantly.
