The Union Cabinet has approved to cut the salary of Prime Minister and other MPs by 30%

In view of the emerging situation arising due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, the union cabinet has implemented an ordinance to reduce the salaries, allowances, and pensions of Members of Parliament (MPs) by 30% for one year.

The Union Cabinet has also approved the temporary suspension of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) Fund during the current Financial Year 2020-21 and the next Financial Year 2021-22. The consolidated amount of Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme Funds for 2 years 'Rs 7900 crores' will go to the Consolidated Fund of India.

The President of India, Vice President of India, Governors of Indian States have voluntarily decided to take a pay cut as a social responsibility. This money will go to the Consolidated Fund of India.
