Context:
According to information obtained from the Tamil Nadu Government, three proposals have been submitted to India regarding the Tamil Nadu Defense Industrial Corridor (TNDIC).
The details and status of these proposals are as follows:
(i) Establishment of testing centres under the Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS) of the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The State Government has been instructed to participate in the tender process and follow the process/program guidelines.
(ii) Leasing approximately 160 acres of defence land in taluka Ulundurpettai, Viluppuram district in Tamil Nadu to create an Aviation Technology Hub. This suggestion is outside the TDIC specified areas.
(iii) A proposal has been submitted to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to establish the Aircraft MRO Complex on 50 acres of land at Chennai Airport.
