UNDERGRADUATE CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK 22 (UGCF-2022)

Context:

On January 23, 2022, the University of Delhi (DU) released a draft Undergraduate Curriculum Framework 22 (UGCF-2022) in line with the National Education Policy (NEP).

DU has invited feedback on it from stakeholders until January 30. 

Key Points:

• The new UG curriculum will take effect from next year when the university switches to a four-year undergraduate program (FYUP).
• The UGCF provides a framework for the curriculum adopted in the 2022-23 academic session when the DU switches to FYUP. This, however, does not include the syllabus, which is prepared independently.

About UGCF:

• The UGCF is an attempt to incorporate two of the most talked-about aspects of the NEP - multi-disciplinary and multi exit points (leaving the course at the end of each year with a different degree).

Choice Based Credit System:

• To date, DU follows the Choice Based Credit System, according to which there are a total of 148 credits three-year Honours programme.
• And there are 132 credits for a Programme course - a course in which a combination of courses is taught instead of focusing on one primary subject in Honours courses.
