VEHICLE-MOUNTED DRAIN CLEANING SYSTEM

Context:

On 28 December 2021, CSIR-CMERI gave the Non-Exclusive rights for Technology Know-How of the ‘Vehicle mounted Drain Cleaning System’ to MANIAR & CO., Ahmedabad, Gujarat. 

About Vehicle Mounted Drain Cleaning System:

• It is a Mechanized Scavenging System.
• It consists of 3 modules namely (i) Recycled Slurry Water Unit (ii) Closed Loop Feed Back System (iii) Post Cleaning Inspection System.
• It is developed by the CSIR-CMERI.
• The Vehicle Mounted Drain Cleaning System Prototype has been demonstrated at CSIR- National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.

Significance of the System:

• The deployment of the Technology in Society by various public administration agencies across the country will solve the great challenge associated with the Eradication of Manual Scavenging’ in India.
• The adoption of the Technology nationwide will assist in the creation of ‘Regional Manufacturing Hubs’ which will, in turn, contribute significantly to improving the Employment Situation and Economic prospects across the country. 
• In addition, CSIR-CMERI Municipal Waste Management Technology has the potential to be a ‘Game-Changer’ in the Waste Management domain and assist in achieving the Indian Prime Minister’s Vision of ‘Zero-Landfill India’.
