Weightlifter Jeremy breaks 3 records at Commonwealth c’ships 2019

Jeremy Lalrinnunga, Indian weightlifter, broke three world records in a scintillating display of action-packed performance on day three of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship 2019 on July 11. However, the Mizoram athlete failed to deliver a clean and jerk lift.

In an astounding performance, the teenager Jeremy, who competed in the 67 kg category, smashed the Youth World, Asian and Commonwealth records within the snatch category with a lift of 136 Kilogram.

It is worth noting that the previous Youth World record, as well as the Asian records, belonged to Jeremy. This was when he had successfully gone on to lift 124 kilograms in the snatch category and 150 kilograms in clean and jerk category at the Asian Championship which was organized in Ningbo, China during the month of April.

About Championship

The Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship is organised by The Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation (CWF). The Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation (CWF) was established 63 years ago in 1947. It is one of the oldest sporting federations of the Commonwealth and is unique in that it encompasses Commonwealth nations from the five continents and recognised by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

About Commonwealth of Nations

The Commonwealth of Nations, normally known as the Commonwealth, is a political association of 53 member states, nearly all of them former territories of the British Empire.

It was originally created as the British Commonwealth of Nations through the Balfour Declaration at the 1926 Imperial Conference, and formalised by the United Kingdom through the Statute of Westminster in 1931. The current Commonwealth of Nations was formally constituted by the London Declaration in 1949.

The Queen (currently Queen Elizabeth II) is the head of state of 16 member states, known as the Commonwealth realms, while 32 other members are republics and five others have different monarchs.
