About Exam

The Government of Maharashtra conducts MPSC examination for the recruitment of various posts under the Maharashtra Government. MPSC 2019 is being conducted for recruitment under various posts of Maharashtra government such as engineers, income tax officers, collectors, police sub-inspector, etc.

Application Process

Step 1: Registration

  • Visit the official website of MPSC i.e. mpsc.gov.in
  • To start the online registration process click on ‘New user registration’ .
  • Fill in your basic details like their name, mobile number, email ID, date of birth and choose a password. Carefully verify your details and click on ‘Create User’.
  • A registration confirmation page will be displayed after successful registration.
  • Note down your user name and password for completing further steps of registration

Step 2: Fill MPSC Recruitment 2019 Application Form

  • Login to mpsc.gove.in with your User Name and Password
  • Fill in your details under the personal, communication, educational and work experience section
  • Upload images/pictures of their recent passport- size photograph and signature as per the specifications mentioned in the guidelines.

  • Preview your application form after filling all necessary details. Verify your details  from the preview, make changes and click on ‘Save

Step 3: Make Payment & Select Exam Centre

  • Make payment through any mode mentioned within the choices, such as Debit/ Credit card, Net banking or by offline mode via e-Challan and Maha e- Seva Kendra
  • Click on homepage or select competitive exam from official website mpsc.gov.in. Select your centre/center from the drop-down list and click on submit.

Selection Process

The selection criteria for any job profile or post is distributed over various stages, such as

Stage 1: Preliminary examination (Qualifying)

Stage 2: Mains examination + Interview

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Candidate must be the citizen of India and domiciled in the State of Maharashtra.

Age Limit

18-33 (subject to change) Max age limit relaxed up to 35 years for OBC and up to 38 years for SC/ST/NT

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree (any stream ) from any recognized University

Syllabus

Syllabus for Preliminary Exam

General Studies Paper I - (200 marks)

(1) Current events of state, national and international importance.
(2) History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement.
(3) Maharashtra, India and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of
Maharashtra, India and the World.
(4) Maharashtra and India - Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati
Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc.
(5) Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion,
Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
(6) General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change-that do not
require subject specialisation.
(7) General Science.

General Studies Paper II - (200 marks)

(1) Comprehension
(2) Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
(3) Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
(4) Decision - making and problem - solving.
(5) General mental ability.
(6) Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data
interpretation(Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level)
(7) Marathi and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level).

Important Points To Keep in Mind

Note 1: Questions relating to Marathi and English Language Comprehension skill of Class X/XII
level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper II) will be tested through passages from Marathi and English
language without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper.

Note 2: The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.

Note 3: It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in both the Papers of State Services (Prelim)
Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate will be disqualified in case he /
she does not appear in both the papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination.

Exam Pattern

  • Preliminary Exam consists of two papers that are Paper 1 and Paper 2
  • The duration of both the paper will be 2 hours
  • Both the paper contains 400 marks each paper carries 200 marks and it is of Objective
  • There is a negative marking

 MPSC Mains Exam Pattern

  • GS Paper 1, GS Paper 2,  GS Paper 3 and GS Paper 4 are of the Objective type and it contains 150 Marks for each Paper
  • Compulsory Marathi and Compulsory English are of the descriptive type which contains 100 Marks for each Paper
  • Total marks for both the papers are 800 Marks.
  • There is negative marking
