SSC GD- Constable Exam

Staff Selection Commission conducts SSC Constable GD Examination for the recruitment of Constable under various Department of Police. The Staff Selection Commission is functioning under the Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India. It was set up on 1 July 1976 primarily to make recruitment on zonal basis for non-technical Group C posts under the Central Government. The main functions are to conduct examinations and interviews, wherever required, for recruitment to the posts within our purview. The examinations are held as far as possible at different centers and successful candidates posted, to the extent possible, to their home state/region.

How to prepare for SSC Constable GD Examination -

SSC Constable GD Examination is conducted every year to recruit constables in various departments. We at Onlinetyari always believe in making things easier and available for the candidate.

The First Step involved will be the PET, so train for that Initially. Once You get selected, you will have to appear for the Written Examination. The Written Exam consist of 100 Questions divided into 4 sections - Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English and General Awareness. The Ideal Strategy will be as follows:

  • Analyze the Previous Year Paper 
  • Read and Understand Topics using Study material for each section
  • Practice Questions on each topic to enhance accuracy
  • Attempt Sectional Mock Test to hone your skills and accuracy.
  • Finally Appear for full-Length Mock Tests to optimize your performance level.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should be the citizen of India.

Physical Standard for GD Constable Exam 2018


For Males: 170 cms
For Females: 157 cms


For Male: Expanded 80 cms
Minimum expansion 5 cms


Proportionate as per the height and medical standard for male and female.

Age Limit

Candidate's age should be between 18 to 23 years. Age relaxation will be applicable as per the as per the government rules for reserved category candidates.

Educational Qualification

Candidates who want to apply for GD Constable (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSF, SSB, NIA and riflemen) must have a graduation degree/diploma/10th Pass from a recognized board or educational institute.


SSC GD Syllabus 2018 for Written Exam

SSC GD Exam Syllabus is very important thing for all of you to start SSC GD Preparation because if you know the complete syllabus then you can prepare well and crack the exam. SSC GD Written Exam Syllabus is mentioned below:

SSC GD Syllabus for General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Similarities and Differences, Spatial Visualization, Spatial Orientation, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning and Figural Classification, Arithmetic Number Series, Non-Verbal Series, Coding and Decoding, etc.

SSC GD Syllabus for General Knowledge and General Awareness: Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research, etc.

Exam Pattern

The SSC GD Constable recruitment exam comprises of three levels i.e. PET, Written Exam and Medical Test. SSC will conduct written examination of candidates qualified in PE/MT in both online and offline mode.
