SSC JE Exam: Eligiblity Criteria - Age Limit, Nationality, Educational Qualification,

Age Limit -Candidates age limit should be between 18-27 (Some posts are having eligiblity upto 32 years of age)

Nationality -A candidate should be a citizen of India.

Educational Qualification - Candidates should possess B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in the respective Trades i.e. Civil/Mechanical/Electrical.

What is the SSC JE Exam Pattern? -

SSC JE Exam Pattern for Paper I

 The Paper I of SSC JE 2016 consists of objective type questions carrying a total of 200 marks. The mode of examination will be computer based test. The total time duration of the paper is 2 hours.

There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I. In General Engineering, candidates can choose any one of the options of Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. Only those candidates who are able to qualify Paper I will be eligible to appear for Paper II.

SSC JE Exam Pattern for Paper II

The Paper II of SSC JE 2016 consists of conventional type questions carrying a total of 300 marks. The candidates will have to choose subjects/sections as per their area of interest in this paper.

  • There will be three subjects- Civil & Structural or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering in Paper-II of SSC JE exam. The candidates will have to appear for only one.
  • The total time duration for Paper II is 2 hours.
  • Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II.

What is SSC JE Exam Syllabus?

The Examination will be conducted in two phases - Paper I and Paper II. Cumulatively the syllabus will consist of three subjects mentioned below:

1. General Intelligence and Reasoning

2. General Awareness

3. General Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil)

What is SSC JE Exam Selection Procedure?

Under SSC Junior Engineer selection procedure, the written exam will consist of two papers i.e. Paper -I and Paper-II carrying a total of 500 marks.

  • Paper I will comprise of Objective type questions for 200 marks and Paper II will have Conventional type questions for 300 marks.
  • Time duration for each paper will be 2 hours.

Answer sheets of Paper-II (Conventional Type) will be evaluated in respect of only those candidates who qualify in Paper-I at the standard as decided/fixed by the Commission at its discretion.
