Situated in the eastern part of India, Jharkhand holds the major mineral resources of our country. It was carved out of the southern part of Bihar on 15 November 2000. Jharkhand shares its border with the states of Bihar to the north, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to the west, Odisha to the south, and West Bengal to the east. Its land area is 79,714 square kilometers large and is the 13th largest populated state in India.
